TEHRAN – At a meeting held on Sunday, Iranian official Ali Larijani assured Lebanon’s full and unconditional support of the Islamic Republic and strengthened its strategic alliance as a breakwater against regional American and Israeli invasions.
Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), stressed that Ayatollah Seiyed Ali Kamenei, Iran is ready to stand by Lebanon and its resistance movement, following the direct guidelines of leaders of the Islamic Revolution.
High-level discussions, including Secretary-General Hezbollah Sheikh Naim Qassem and Iran’s Ambassador Mojtaba Amani, focused on the escalating challenges facing the region. Larijani confidently predicted the end of the Israeli regime, saying, “I believe that offensive Israeli rule will fulfill a dishonest end in the face of this immobility.”
On his part, Qassem highlighted the unwavering decisions of the Lebanese people and their support for resistance in the face of ongoing pressure. “Anyone who witnesses the determination of these brave and patients will believe in victory over Israel’s enemy,” he said. He repeated Hezbollah’s openness to cooperation with all military forces against the existential threat posed by Israeli occupation.
Sunday’s meeting will take place amid a coordinated, failed campaign by Washington and the Israeli regime to undermine Lebanon’s defensive capabilities. Recent American diplomatic efforts have actively promoted disarmament in Hezbollah, which has been widely rejected throughout Lebanon.
This pressure is an important topic during Larijani’s previous visit in August and remains the focus of the discussion. Analysts view the US and Israeli disarmament campaign as a transparent attempt to strip Lebanon from its most powerful deterrent forces, making the state vulnerable to Israeli sovereignty violations. Hezbollah is widely recognized within Lebanon not as a militia but as a legitimate resistance that successfully countered Israeli occupation and defended the interests of the nation.
Larijani’s presence in Beirut, which he arrived on Saturday, underscores the depth of Iran-Hezbollah relations. His visit was to attend a memorial to the Hezbollah martyrs, including his respected leader Sayad Hassan Nasrara and Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, who was assassinated in last year’s targeted Israeli attacks.
The itinerary of Iranian authorities is packed with high levels of engagement, including talks between Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabi Beli and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam at the government palace, signaling Iran’s commitment to engaging with all facets of the Lebanese state.
