A local police officer who refused to name it told Reuters that the roof may have fallen as a result of heavy rains in the area.
“When the roof fell after the morning prayer, there were 25-30 children in the room,” Rajasthan Education Minister Madhan Dhilawar told the Ajitak News Channel.
Visuals from the news channel show the locals gathered at the grounds of collapse. We could hear the suffering family crying as authorities use cranes to remove the debris.
Local media reported that 32 students had been safely pulled out, but rescue operations were underway.
“Directions have been given to the relevant authorities to ensure proper care for the injured children,” Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanal Sharma said in X.
According to a newspaper from the Economic Times, local police officer Amit Kumar was critical of some of the injured children, Amit Kumar told PTI News Agency.
