Tehran – International Charity Day, celebrated annually on September 5th, highlights the opportunity to praise philanthropists, the collective efforts to promote education, public health, and the culture of human solidarity.
This day is an expression of global solidarity, bringing people together to create a more just and resilient society through direct donations, volunteers, or collective action.
The UN General Assembly praised the efforts of charities and individuals, including the work of charities and mother Teresa, in recognition of the role of charities in alleviating humanitarian crises and human suffering within the country.
Today, the world is tackling epic crises such as war, climate change, pandemics, and economic inequality.
In such circumstances, World Charity Day emphasizes that indifference to the suffering of others is not only immoral, but also a threat to global stability and security.
World Charity Day reminds us that charity is a common bond between humanity that transcends the boundaries of ethnic, religious and political.
Beyond immediate aid, charities enhance healthcare, education, cultural conservation, and protection of vulnerable groups (OECD). Today, charities and charities are evolving to address deeper causes of poverty and inequality.
In Iran, for example, about 51% of schools in the country are built with the help of benefactors. Participation in school construction demonstrates the will and commitment to improving educational opportunities and developing educational infrastructure. Their efforts will have a positive impact on education, students, and the future of the country.
Charitable efforts are currently impacting public policy, supporting communities that lack public services and affecting support communities. Fragile regions often fill important gaps that governments can’t do.
The UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development ends poverty across all aspects of the global mission. Poverty is not just a lack of income. It also means hunger, exclusion, dangerous living conditions, and limiting access to education and healthcare. Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires strong partnerships between governments, civil society, businesses and charities.
International Charity Day was established with the aim of impressing and mobilizing people, NGOs and stakeholders around the world to help others through volunteering and philanthropy.
