Tehran – The 2024 documentary “Super/Man: Christopher Leave Story” will be on display at Andeshe Cultural Centre in Tehran on Tuesday by Ian Bonhort and director Peter Etetogui.
The film screening is followed by the presence and review sessions of film critics Mohsen Soleimani Farker and Mohsen Beigaga.
“Super/Man: The Story of Christopher Reeve” is about the life of American actor Christopher Reeve and his subsequent work as an activist for the rights of disabled people after an accident in which he rode a paralyzed horse from his neck down.
Its title is a reference to Reeve’s role as Superman in the 1978-1987 Superman films. Reeve’s Children, Alexandra Reeve Givens, Matthew Reeve and Will Reeve, are featured in the film.
Christopher Reeve’s story is an astonishing rise from an unknown actor to an iconic film star, and his definitive portrayal of Clark Kent/Superman set the benchmark for the superhero cinema universe that dominates film today.
Reeve portrayed the Man of Steel in four “Superman” films, playing dozens of other roles showing his talent and scope as an actor before being injured in a fatal horse riding accident in 1995.
After becoming quadriplegic, he became a charismatic leader and activist in his quest to find treatment for spinal cord injuries, and a passionate advocate for the rights and care of people with disabilities.
The film includes an intimate home movie you’ve never seen before, an extraordinary pack of personal archival material, and the first extended interview filmed about Reeve’s three children and father, as well as an interview with Reeve’s colleagues and friends, A-list Hollywood actors. The film tells Reeve’s incredible story in a moving, vivid cinema.
Ultimately, “Super/Man” is not so much a reflection that Christopher models and advances the drives and spirit that he has instilled in people.
The British-American venture has received universal acclaim from critics and audiences and was named one of the top five documentary films of 2024. Among other acclaims, it won the British Academy Award for Best Film and Producer Guild of America, and six awards for Critics’ Choice Documentary (including Best Documentary feature).
