The four-day exercise, titled “AZIREX 2025,” included the participation of Azerbaijani naval units as well as units of the Iranian Navy and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy.
The Iranian flotilla included the Paikan and Separ missile launchers, as well as the Revolutionary Guards Navy’s Shahid Bashir warship.
The joint exercise aimed to strengthen maritime security, promote stable naval cooperation in the Caspian Sea, and strengthen operational coordination between Iranian and Azerbaijani militaries. It also aimed to improve joint planning and execution of combined maritime search, rescue and rescue operations.
The exercise also pursued objectives such as ensuring the safety of commercial ships and oil tankers in the Caspian Sea, establishing a mutually agreed framework for future joint exercises, and strengthening military cooperation in support of friendly relations between the two neighboring countries.
