Ali Akbar Ahmadian, secretary of Iran’s highest security board, traveled to Brazil to attend the BRICS security conference and met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the meeting on Thursday.
At the meeting, Iranian security officials said Tehran is sharing the results of talks with Washington about lifting sanctions with its nuclear issue and its strategic ally, Beijing.
“China has always been an important political and economic partner for Tehran and is trying to strengthen these strategic relationships,” Ahmadian said.
“Tehran Basing’s cooperation can challenge unilateral cooperation on the international stage and secure the long-term benefits of (other) countries,” he continued.
“Beijing is always ready to support Iran’s principled position in the region, support negotiations and further expand economic ties with Tehran,” the Chinese Foreign Minister said.
He considered China to be Iran’s comprehensive strategic partner and emphasized Iran’s rights to peaceful nuclear technology.
China will strengthen ties with Iran, Wang Yi said, according to strategic documents signed between the two sides.
“Beijing is willing to maintain interaction with Iran at all levels,” the minister said.
