During the phone conversation, Araguchi emphasized the importance of strengthening relations between Iran and Indonesia, describing both countries as major developing Islamic countries. He highlighted the need to pursue implementation of existing contracts and highlighted the value of a high level of contact to advance cooperation.
Outlining Iran’s views on the situation in West Asia, Aragut said the ongoing occupation and killing of Palestinians remains the most pressing global issue. He said the Israeli regime had turned Gaza and the West Bank into scenes of innocent Palestinian genocide and torture with full support from the United States and certain Western countries. Despite a warrant issued by the International Criminal Court and a provisional order by the International Court of Justice, Israeli atrocities continue.
He also criticized the US for denounced Israel’s continued attacks on Lebanon and Syria, and for launching an attack on Yemen in support of the occupation regime. Aragut warned that these war crimes and acts of aggression have exposed the entire region to unprecedented uncertainty and urged Islamic countries to take more aggressive steps to stop these crimes and bring humanitarian assistance to the oppressed Palestinians.
On his part, the Indonesian Foreign Minister reaffirmed his country’s commitment to expand bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Iran and welcomed Iran’s proposal to strengthen relations.
He also agreed to the assessment of Aragichi’s dire circumstances in Gaza and the West Bank, highlighting the need for a unified Islamic attitude to secure an immediate ceasefire and an open humanitarian corridor to support the Palestinians.
