TEHRAN – Iraqi Foreign Minister Huad Hussein received a message written by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut during a meeting with Iraqi Ambassador Mohammad Qasem al-Sadegu on Monday.
The message, which was delivered at Iraq’s Foreign Ministry headquarters, addressed “recent political and security developments in the region,” and focused on the Israeli regime’s recent attack on Iran and its impact on regional stability.
Both authorities also looked at bilateral relations and explored ways to strengthen cooperation in multiple areas.
The diplomatic exchange follows reports from the Israeli regime that used Iraqi airspace during a 12-day war with Iran.
Iraqi Army spokesman Yahya Rasool confirmed the violations on June 18, saying “We have detected illicit aircraft in airspace consistent with regional operations.”
Later, senior security guards confirmed that Iraq could not compete with Tel Aviv’s advanced jets, and Defence Minister Tabitt Al Abubashi pointed out the “urgent need to modernize air defense.”
Israeli invasion paralyzed regional aviation, with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) declaring some of the region’s airspace as “high risk.”
