Farzaneh Sadegh made the comments to reporters in Tehran on Saturday after visiting neighboring Pakistan.
Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh, referring to the agreement between Iran and Pakistan to facilitate customs clearance and the smooth movement of trucks between the two countries, said: “Facilitation of customs clearance for smooth movement of trucks and implementation of projects for the improvement and modernization of railway lines are the two main pillars of the new cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad.”
Noting the importance of transport and transit relations between the two countries, the prime minister said, “Given their geopolitical position, Iran and Pakistan have many joint projects on the agenda in the fields of road, rail and maritime transport.”
Railway cooperation includes improving and modernizing routes, while the road sector focuses on facilitating customs operations and providing better conditions for truck drivers in both countries. And in the maritime sector, the establishment of direct connectivity between the ports of Karachi, Gwadar and Chabahar is being pursued. ”
Foreign Minister Sadegh also said, “This cooperation will not only lead to an increase in the amount of traffic exchanges between Iran and Pakistan, but also provide a platform for the development of regional transportation routes.”
“The realization of this cooperation will establish Pakistan-China ties and thereby China’s ties with Europe through Pakistan and Iran. This is of great strategic importance and both countries are serious about it.”
