Speaking to reporters after meeting Tehran’s Pakistani internal minister Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday, Iranian Home Minister Eskandar Mohmeni said, “Several meetings have been held over the past two days and the meeting with Pakistani Interior Minister Naqvi was also a very good meeting.
Momeni added: “The conference announced several issues, including the security of the border, the fight against terrorism, the fight against drugs, and the issue of Aabaini pilgrims entering our country from Pakistan and traveling towards Iraq.”
Iran’s home minister added that he emphasized that a good decision was made at Tuesday’s meeting.
Momeni said, referring to the expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries, “This conference discussed border exchange, development of border markets, increased working hours for customs at the intersections of shared borders and markets, and decided that some of these intersections will operate 24/7.”
He said, “The border between Iran and Pakistan is a border of friendship and brotherhood,” adding, “the outcome of today’s decision will contribute to improving security on both sides of the border, developing relations and expanding bilateral trade.”
Leading the delegation, Pakistani Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif arrived in Tehran on Monday to discuss with top Iranian officials, including leaders of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and President Masuud Pezeshkian.
