TEHRAN – Iran and Pakistan’s defense and military capabilities complement each other, a senior Iranian military official said on Tuesday, stressing that the two neighbors are committed to expanding cooperation to counter common threats from the West and Israel.
Captain Dariosh Eskandari, head of the Iranian delegation to Pakistan International Maritime Exhibition and Conference (PIMEC 2025), spoke on the second day of the event in Karachi. He called for stronger defense ties and broader cooperation to strengthen deterrence and regional security.
“This is a valuable opportunity to participate in an international maritime exhibition and conference hosted by our eastern neighbor Pakistan,” Eskandari said, adding that Iran’s participation is a sign of growing engagement between the two countries. “The quality and variety of products presented by the Iranian Ministry of Defense was very impressive.”
Eskandari said the Iranian pavilion was visited by several foreign dignitaries and senior Pakistani officials, including the commander of the Pakistan Navy.
“Expanding defense and military cooperation with our friendly neighbor Pakistan will play an important role in strengthening Iran’s deterrence,” he said. “Technology exchange, joint training and educational cooperation are also in the common interests of both countries.”
He noted that international visitors met with Iranian experts and learned about Iran’s latest defense advances across various fields.
Eskandari added: “Iran and Pakistan have reached an understanding that they should strengthen deterrence and leverage each other’s capabilities to confront common challenges, including threats from the West and the Zionist regime.”
Foreign delegations, including Pakistan’s Vice Commander of the Navy and senior officials from the Ministry of Defense and Defense Production, visited Iranian exhibits on the second day of the expo.
The 2nd Pakistan International Maritime Expo & Conference opened in Karachi on Monday and will continue until Thursday, showcasing maritime and defense industries from around the world.
