Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali met on Monday with Director of the Russian Federal Financial Supervisory Service (Rosfin Surveillance) Yuri Chikantin and discussed strengthening bilateral relations and expanding multilateral cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Eurasia Group (EAG) on anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism.
Foreign Minister Chikantin expressed his gratitude for Iran’s initiative and active participation in the EAG meeting, and expressed readiness to share expertise and provide technical consultations to the Iranian side to further strengthen Iran’s engagement and exchanges with member states.
The Eurasian Group Against Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism is one of nine regional organizations affiliated with FATF. The 43rd General Assembly was held in Minsk, Belarus in November and was attended by 35 delegations from 18 countries and more than 15 international organizations.
At the recent EAG meeting held in Minsk in early December, Mr. Chikantin was elected as the group’s next chairman for the 2026-2027 term.
