Boris Chernyshov, deputy speaker of Russia’s State Duma, told a visiting Iranian delegation led by lawmaker Mohsen Zangeneh that relations between the two parliaments were at the “highest level of mutual trust” and that constructive dialogue between Moscow and Tehran continues at all levels.
“Relations with Iran are built on mutual trust and respect,” Chernyshov said. “The two countries’ positions on international issues, particularly U.S. and Western policy, remain close and aligned.”
Russia’s experience in adapting to sanctions could be useful to both countries, he said, noting that Russian companies initially faced great challenges but quickly rebuilt their businesses and opened up new markets. “Iran has had a similar experience and exchanging these lessons could be mutually beneficial.”
Zangeneh said Iran and Russia have had strong ties for many years, and that ties have deepened in recent years. He highlighted joint infrastructure projects such as the International North-South Transport Corridor and said Iran’s parliament will seek budget allocation for its implementation next year.
The Iranian lawmaker also welcomed progress in financial cooperation between Iran and Iran, including linking payment card systems, but noted that bilateral trade “has not yet reached its full potential and could be further expanded.”
