Iran’s Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh met with Russian counterpart Andrei Belusov in Moscow on Monday to discuss expanding military cooperation, according to Russian Ambassador Kazem Jalali.
Jalali said the conference was centered on “strengthening bilateral cooperation in the military and defense sectors,” as reported via the embassy’s telegram channel.
Iran and the Islamic Republic of Russia have launched joint naval training in the Caspian Sea. The Caspian Sea crosses both countries’ borders and lies between Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Additionally, on Monday, Ali Larijani, a senior adviser to Iranian leadership, held a high-level meeting in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin, where he delivered Tehran’s official message on regional and international issues.
