President Peshshkian emphasized that ongoing interaction with Russia is extremely valuable to Iran at a bystander meeting at the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held in Tianjin, China on Monday. He said enforcement of long-term treaties paves the way for increased cooperation, highlighting that cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) framework will further accelerate and promote substantial interaction between the two countries.
Pezeschkian pointed to his personal commitment to implementing all agreements with Russia and addressing potential obstacles. He emphasized the importance of exchanging experiences and promoting scientific and academic collaboration.
Tackling the geopolitical landscape, Pezeschkian criticized the efforts of the United States and its allies to strengthen unilateral governance. He pointed to discussions at the SCO Summit and emphasized that such international organizations provide an appropriate platform for promoting multilateralism.
In response, President Putin conveyed his best wishes to the leader of the Islamic Revolution, and Ayatollahs made Ali Khamenei a seiei, emphasizing that relations between the two countries are becoming increasingly friendly and expanding.
He argued that trade volume between Iran and Russia has increased significantly in recent months, and that the continued free trade agreement between Iran and the EAEU will play a key role in further strengthening cooperation.
Putin also emphasized the importance of strengthening relations between Iranian and the Russian people, and noted a noticeable increase in the number of Iranian students who chose to study in Russia. He highlighted the growth of various cultural festivals and programs jointly held by the two countries, as well as tourism exchanges.
The Russian president pointed to regular and continuous communication between the two countries on various regional and international issues, including cooperation on Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities.
