At a meeting in Tehran, Iranian Minister of Defense Brigadier Aziz Nasirzadeh and Deputy Minister of Tajikistan General Emomali Sobirzoda emphasized the need to build defence relations and cooperation to combat terrorism and strengthen the security of the region.
Brigadier Nasirzadeh pointed to the commonality between the two countries in a variety of fields, including linguistic, cultural, religious, historical and civilized fields, adding that Iran has made its relationship with the Republic of Tajikistan very important.
He added that the view of the Republic of Tajikistan in Iran is strategic and based on mutual respect, and that Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, has placed a special emphasis on strengthening relations with Tajikistan in all areas.
Defence Minister Tajik pointed out sufficient social, cultural, historical and religious commonalities between the two countries, saying Iran and Tajikistan are likely to strengthen cooperation in all areas.
