Iranian Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Mohammad Atabak, who was in Turkey to attend the ECO Trade Ministers’ Meeting, met with Turkish Trade Minister Omer Borat on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the two ministers discussed bilateral and trade relations between Tehran and Ankara.
Atabak called Turkey one of Iran’s most important trading partners and stressed the need to expand trade between the two countries.
He said that trade between Turkey and Iran has the potential for a major leap forward, adding that the ministry hopes to achieve this important goal by resolving some minor obstacles.
The Turkish Trade Minister pointed out that the trade volume between Iran and Turkey will increase significantly this year (2025) and emphasized his country’s readiness to expand trade relations with Iran.
Foreign Minister Omer Borat stressed that Turkey is keen to develop trade relations with Iran, based on the historical background and neighborly relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, the Iranian and Turkish industry ministers reviewed several commercial issues between the two countries and reached an agreement in this regard.
Iran’s industry minister left Tehran on Tuesday for Istanbul, Turkey, to attend the first ministerial-level Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit in 20 years.
