TEHRAN – Venezuela’s Deputy Minister of Science, Alberto Quintero, recently concluded his visit to Iran and announced important measures to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
Quintero met with Mohammad Eslami, head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI) to discuss enhanced collaborations in nuclear science and technology. The discussion highlighted a common commitment to state sovereignty and progress despite external challenges.
Eslami warmly greeted Quintero and his delegation, highlighting the potential for a fruitful collaboration. “Venezuela has important capabilities and their people are deeply invested in their country’s future,” he said. “I believe these conferences will effectively contribute to stronger relations between our countries,” he emphasized the importance of national pride and independence, adding that “the path to true dignity and success is to protect the independence of our people and their people.”
Eslami also acknowledges the challenges posed by the “hegemony system” and suggests external pressure. “Our progress towards independence is accompanied by resistance from those who try to maintain control. They pretend to be different and create obstacles that hinder our development. But we are determined to move forward with strength.” He has expressed his hope that he will strengthen his dedication and technical cooperation to Iran’s joint projects, and that “the people of Venezuela will stand firm against these pressures and achieve important goals.”
Quintero gave greetings from Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro and Minister of Science and Technology Gabriella Selville Zimenez, praised Iran’s resilience. “We want to learn from the Iranian example,” he said. He highlighted the long history of striving for Venezuela’s independence, suggesting that close cooperation with Iran could strengthen efforts across diverse sectors, including industry, healthcare and agriculture.
During his visit, Quintero toured major Iranian facilities, including the RASA Technology and Innovation Center and the Tehran Research Reactor. He showed particular interest in establishing a nuclear physics program at the University of Science in Venezuela and initiating an advanced degree program at the Center for Science Research.
