Referring to the responsible and careful approach to the international development of Iranian Islamic Republic, Aragut stressed that Iran’s response to a letter from the US president has maintained diplomatic opportunities, following the content and tone of his message.
He made a speech at a ceremony on the Memorial of Knowles on Saturday night, in front of Iranian officials and representatives from various states.
Araghchi stressed that, in principle, it is pointless to directly negotiate with parties threatening to use force continuously to violate the UN Charter and for their officials to express contradictory positions. “But we are engaged in diplomacy and are willing to explore the path of indirect negotiation.”
Repeating the completely peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program, a top Iranian diplomat said, “Iran had previously taken a series of voluntary measures under the JCPOA to provide assurances about the peaceful nature of its nuclear activity.
“Now with that experience, we are ready. We will resume consultations on our nuclear program and removal of sanctions, based on the logic of confidence building, in exchange for lifting repressive sanctions against Iran.”
Araghchi firmly stated that Iran’s Islamic Republic continues to be committed to the path of diplomacy and dialogue to resolve misunderstandings and conflicts, but that is prepared for all possible scenarios. “Just as Iran is serious about diplomacy and negotiations, it is equally firm and determined in defending its national interests and sovereignty.”
