Additionally, 359 projects have begun, most of which will be implemented in Carman, Laurestan and Isfahan.
Over the past year, 14,000 housing units have been provided to beneficiaries and people with disabilities. 45,966 homes are under construction. Also, 1,942 housing units will be handed over to people with disabilities in a week, Hosseini emphasized.
Officials continued to announce the launch of the Employment Support Fund. “Thanks to welfare services, nearly 200,000 beneficiaries and individuals with disabilities are employed, with the services sector accounting for 62% of the employment.
Welfare organization services
Welfare organizations also support and contribute to improving the quality of life for seniors, children living in childcare centres, and female patriarchs.
Welfare organizations plan to implement a 40-day training programme for seniors to improve quality of life.
The program includes 240 different educational subjects, including health, life skills, arts, communication skills, digital and entrepreneurship, music, sports, gaming and other leisure activities.
It will be implemented as a Tehran pilot program. He said each individual will register to participate in the program for 40 days over three months.
Participants are divided into two groups to attend the session, either odd or even on days, along with educational programs offered daily in two different parts. The first 15 minutes will be dedicated to physical training, the next 45 minutes will be focused on professional training, and the 90 minutes will be allocated to recreational programs. During the education course, each person receives detailed training essential to improving self-care and quality of life, officials noted.
Delbari said that some short-term education programs will be accessible from certain websites introduced by the centre.
Empowering children
Currently there are 635 childcare centers, 33 of which are nursery schools. 5,000 people work at these centres and 9,000 children benefit from services at these centres, the IRNA cites Hamid Reza Albando, a welfare organization official.
Welfare organizations are planning to empower children by training them to respect social values, respect social skills, strengthen their faith and help them become independent, officials added.
Child adoption is a 2.5x increase compared to 10 years ago, with around 2,500 children being adopted each year.
For adoption, you need to meet standards such as mental health, the ability to care for your child, addiction, criminal history, bad reputation, and proper income. This approach is the result of studying the adoption process in 10 countries around the world.
Supporting female patriarchs
A recent report by the Iranian Statistics Centre (SCI) found that the number of women supported by welfare organisations has increased from 180,120 in 2017 to 278,353 in 2023.
The majority of family heads are widows, divorced or female women of families whose men have not earned income due to illness or disability, but Mehr’s media reported.
The increase in the number of women households around the world has brought many economic, health and social challenges.
Empowering women is one of the key elements of sustainable development, and female patriarchs are no exception.
