TEHRAN – On the last day of the 43rd UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, the Islamic Republic of Iran, which had been recommended as a candidate for membership in several of the organization’s executive and scientific bodies, achieved membership in the four main UNESCO commissions with the consensus of member states.
According to IRNA, following this agreement, the Islamic Republic of Iran was elected as a member of the Judicial Council, the Intergovernmental Committee on Bioethics (IBC), the Intergovernmental Committee on Returns and Returns (ICPRCP), and the Management of Social Change (MOST) Program.
These selections are the result of joint consultation and coordination between the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran to UNESCO, and the various organs of the organization, and represent an important position for the country in the fields of law, bioethics, cultural heritage protection and social policy development.
The global functions of these committees play a decisive role in the development of international standards, scientific advice, cultural mediation, and the nexus of social research and policy-making. This issue could provide Iran with new capabilities and opportunities.
The UNESCO General Assembly concluded on Thursday (November 13) after about two weeks of intensive activities, and Japan’s achievements during the session, especially its election to the four main committees, were one of the notable achievements of Iran’s active participation in this international conference.
