Speaking at the 38th special session of the United Nations Human Rights Council on the human rights situation in Al-Fashr, Iranian diplomats expressed deep concern over the worsening human rights and humanitarian crisis in the city and surrounding areas, saying: “Serious hunger, widespread displacement and civilian suffering have created one of the world’s most serious humanitarian crises, requiring an urgent response from the international community.”
The people of Bahraini criticized continued silence and lack of decisive international action as exacerbating the crisis, saying: “What we are particularly concerned about is the continued transfer of weapons in aid of these crimes. Foreign intervention, including the provision of arms and the recruitment of mercenaries, is fueling the flames of war and the escalation of the humanitarian crisis.”
Emphasizing the need to respect Sudan’s territorial integrity, the Iranian ambassador said: “Iran strongly rejects any attempt to impose a situation of dual governance or undermine Sudan’s legitimate government and calls on all governments to take decisive measures to protect civilians and support Sudan’s lasting peace and territorial integrity.”
