Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei condemned Tuesday’s criminal attacks by the Zionist regime in northern Bekah and Baalbeck in Lebanon.
Referring to the intensifying military attacks by the Zionist regime on Lebanon’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty and the killing of Lebanese citizens in various regions of the country, the spokesman condemned the UN Security Council’s inaction and silence on these attacks and crimes as embarrassing and unjust.
He highlighted the liability of the US, particularly the US, for the ongoing criminal and illegal activities of the occupation regime, the department’s website reported.
An Iranian spokesman also pointed out open support for the Zionist regime. This includes completely unilateral plans and proposals aimed at clearly serving the administration’s illegitimate interests and undermining Lebanon’s national security, unity and economic welfare.
Baghaei said resistance and defense against aggression are inherent rights to all countries and guarantors of its national dignity, the Foreign Ministry website reported.
Israeli airstrikes killed at least 12 people in Tolebanon on Tuesday, including five Hezbollah fighters. Eight other people were injured in the Israeli attack and collided with the Wadifara area of the North Bekaa Valley, which includes a camp for evacuated Syrians.
The airstrikes have been the most deadly in the region since the US-brokered ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel last November – a ceasefire repeatedly violated by Israel, carrying out a nearly day-long strike across the country.
