A spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry has denounced the United Nations resolution aimed at stopping Gaza’s genocide, denounced the United States for preventing the adoption of a UN resolution aimed at stopping Gaza’s genocide and calling it evidence of the moral decline of Washington’s decision-makers and accomplices in killing Palestinian children.
Foreign Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Thursday that in response to the UN Security Council’s failure to pass a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire and the end of Gaza’s genocide, the move to block the US government was in fact an extension of cooperation with the Israeli government and was heavily condemned.
The resolution emphasized the support of 14 UNSC members, and the United States opposed it, saying that the US veto was not only a humiliation against global demand to end the Israeli genocide, but also a clear indication of the moral decline of American policymakers and their conspiracy to suppress Palestinians and kill Gaza children.
He said he has long-standing records of the US thwarting serious UNSC efforts to hold Israel accountable, and over the past decades the US used its veto to enforce international law and block resolutions aimed at preventing violations of Israel’s fundamental human rights.
He said this was a major factor in Israel’s immunity, continued occupation and colonial genocide, and that Washington became a direct accomplice in the crimes of the Israeli regime.
Baguey also highlighted the responsibility of all governments and international organisations to stand up against the war crimes committed by the Israeli regime and genocide, urging Israel and its supporters to use their full personal and collective potential to pressure Israel and its supporters to end the carnage in Gaza.
