TEHRAN – The Environment Ministry has strongly condemned Israel’s recent attacks on Israeli fossil fuel tanks and storage facilities, saying it will destroy the natural environment and biodiversity.
Environmental destruction is a classic example of environmental crime, poses a threat to biodiversity and violates international commitments, the DOE emphasizes.
In addition to threatening public health and local ecosystems, these irresponsible actions have led to the release of toxic and pollutants that have long-term effects on air quality, water resources and natural habitats, the IRNA reported.
These destruction occurs when countries in all regions are trying to comply with global agreements and practices to manage people’s emissions.
The DOE is calling on the United Nations Environment Programme (UNDP), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and other regional and global organizations to take necessary measures to stop further destruction and prevent environmental disasters.
Climate change and the environmental crisis are major challenges in the 21st century, but the emission of pollution caused by intentional environmental destruction and military attacks must be closely addressed by international communities. Iran calls for explicit condemnation of these actions by international organisations at the Global Forum, putting pressure on perpetrators of destruction to prevent the continued destruction of the local ecosystem.
“Local Catastrophe”
In March, Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Althani issued a harsh plea to the US and Israel to abandon the threat of military action against Iran’s nuclear facilities and explain such escalations as a direct threat to the survival of the region.
In an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, Qatari leader warned that the strike will cause a “regional war” and unleash a “environmental catastrophe” in danger for millions.
“If Washington signs an attack on Iran’s nuclear site, we hope for retaliation,” the prime minister declared, emphasizing military action will destabilize the strategic interests of the US in West Asia.
Beyond geopolitics, PM emphasized an ecological apocalypse. Such an attack could unleash.
Contamination from colliding nuclear sites such as the Buchere nuclear power plant cripples desalination infrastructure and leaves arid Persian Gulf states without easy drinking water.
“It’s not just Qatar. Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, we all face this risk,” he said, adding that environmental security is a unified regional priority.
“If there’s no clean water, Qatar will dry out in three days. This is not a hypothesis. It’s existential,” he said.
