TEHRAN – The Iranian Army (Artes) announced 17 Israeli drones on Tuesday, Brigadier General Soleiman Taheli of western Iran during a 12-day war with the regime, as commander of the Army Ground Forces at the Western Regional Headquarters.
Among the downed UAVs were sophisticated Heron reconnaissance and combat drones, valued at around $40 million, which were shot down by Iran’s indigenous Majid air defense system.
Ground air defense units detected and eliminated all 17 drones as they tried to penetrate Iran’s airspace.
Although Heron has 30 hours of endurance, 9 km ceiling and speeds between 150 and 180 km/h, he has continued to engage in Majid in western Iran and highlighted Iran’s ability to counter the threat of high value low signs.
Most of the other drones were Hermes class UAVs, including the Hermes 900 (prices at $25 million each). It can fly at 70 mph up to 30,000 feet and carry precision weapons such as electro-optic systems, synthetic aperture radars, and Mikhorit glide bombs.
“Everything was neutralised using fully indigenous equipment and weapons designed by Iranian experts,” Taheli added.
In another incident, the Iranian army fired down three more Hermes 900 drones. One is Markaj Province (probably via the Ahman or S-300PMU-2 system) and two near the Iraqi border. Each loss is between $25 million and $400,000 per unit, causing a major financial and operational blow to Israel’s ability to espionage and preemptive capabilities.
The war between Iran and Israel broke out on June 13 after the regime launched airstrikes on Iranian soil, targeting housing, military and nuclear facilities. Iran has slammed Israeli cities for the next 12 days. The fight halted on June 24th following a proposal from the US. This joined Israel’s war of aggression against Iran by attacking three nuclear sites.
A key concern of the Israeli regime during the war with Iran was the economic losses driven both by the collapse of military hardware to Iran and the damage caused by Iranian missiles within the occupied territories.
