In a statement late Friday, the diplomatic mission rejected Sir Ken McCallum’s claims on October 16 that he accused Iran of engaging in a so-called “deadly conspiracy” and “cross-border hostilities.”
“The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly protests and expresses its complete rejection of these baseless and irresponsible statements,” the statement said.
“Such baseless accusations are part of continued efforts to distort Iranian policy and undermine bilateral diplomatic relations.”
The embassy stressed that Iran categorically denies any involvement in acts of violence, abductions or harassment against individuals in the UK or elsewhere.
It further said the claims were made “without any credible evidence” and were inconsistent with international law, the principles of sovereign equality, and Iran’s continued commitment to promoting peaceful coexistence and international cooperation.
The statement came after the head of MI5 claimed that British security forces had thwarted 20 Iranian-linked operations on British territory in the past year, a claim the Iranian government has dismissed as part of an ongoing misinformation campaign.
The Iranian embassy called on the UK government to “refrain from making or escalating unfounded accusations” and instead pursue “a responsible and constructive approach based on dialogue and mutual respect” to address common security concerns through legal and diplomatic channels.
The mission ultimately reaffirmed Iran’s readiness for dialogue and commitment to international norms and peaceful international relations.
