Tehran – Esmail Baghhai, a spokesman for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, issued the sharp responsibilities of Rafael Grossi, Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), accusing him of betraying the principles of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
He further argued that the agency became “an offensive and unjust partner in warfare.”
In an official statement directed at Grossi, you said you betrayed the non-proliferation treaty regime and turned the IAEA into a tool in the hands of states that are not committed to the treaty.
He further accused him of being complicit in efforts to strip NPT member states of core rights under Article 4 of the Convention, which grants access to peaceful nuclear technology.
Baghaei also warned that misleading stories from international organizations like the IAEA could have devastating consequences, and argued that Grossi must be responsible for his role in promoting them.
“Does your awakened conscience remain?” Baghaei asks rhetorically, criticizing what he sees as maintaining fairness and not supporting basic responsibility.
