Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has denounced the US and Israeli regimes for opposing a UN resolution that recognizes access to food that has led to current starvation for Gaza civilians as a human right.
In his X-account post, Baghaei blows up the US and Israeli regimes in opposition to UN resolution 76/166.
He writes: “Was the hunger of the people of Gaza not planned?”
On December 16, 2021, only the US and Israeli governments voted against the resolution at the UN General Assembly.
The rest of the international community united in support of the resolution, highlighting the ban on starvation as a way of war under international humanitarian law.
Baghaei argued that the opposition reflects “a deliberate policy for weaponizing food against civilians,” saying, “Isn’t their opposition to this resolution clearly evidence of a planned policy that uses food as a weapon of war?”
