In response to Australia’s designation of the Revolutionary Guards as a state sponsor of terrorism, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday: “The Australian government’s politically motivated actions are a dangerous, criminal novelty, carried out under the influence of the Zionist regime to distract the public from the genocide in Gaza.”
“The Islamic Republic of Iran considers this act to be illegal and unjust, and a violation of international legal rules and norms that protect the national sovereignty of states,” it said in a statement. The statement expressed disgust at the support of some Australian politicians for the genocidal Israeli regime’s evil policy of spreading lies about Iran, and further emphasized the Australian government’s international responsibility for its illegal actions.
Recalling the prestigious status of the Revolutionary Guards, which is part of the official armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has played an unparalleled role in defending Iran’s sovereignty and national security against foreign aggression and countering terrorism, including ISIL terrorism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran underlined the determination of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to take all necessary measures to protect the status and reputation of the armed forces against any hostile labeling.
