According to Press TV, Saeed Iravani claimed during a session at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Tuesday that Saeed Iravani had never launched hostility.
“Iran is not an aggressor,” he stressed, warning that the actions of the Israeli regime were carried out with us, constituted a clear violation of the UN Charter and international law.
Referring to the Israeli regime’s unfair attack on Iranian territory, Irabani described it as “a blatant violation of the UN Charter and the fundamental principles of international law.”
He denounced the Tel Aviv regime for targeting private infrastructure and peaceful nuclear facilities under the surveillance of the United Nations Nuclear Watch Agency, and warned that such attacks could have “devastating consequences.”
“Iran has exercised its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter,” he said during the UN session. “Our response was inherently proportional and defensive, targeting only the source of the attack.”
He also questioned the concept of “preemptive self-defense,” cited by several Israeli government officials, calling it a legally unfounded danger.
“If such a story is normalized, it will erode one of the central tenets of the UN Charter – the prohibition of the use of force,” Irabani said.
Irabani has condemned the “double standards” in the US, UK and France, not only in Iran, but also in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen, particularly because they were unable to stop Israeli invasions.
“The bitter experiences in these regions show that the UN Security Council has repeatedly failed to fulfill its most fundamental duties.
Iranian envoy warned that if the UN Security Council does not take decisive action, Iran will continue to defend its sovereignty and people.
“This isn’t just our rights,” he said.
