During a briefing Monday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said imposition of visa restrictions on delegations of the United Nations Conference of Islamic Republic in New York is not new, but this time the measure openly violates the US rural area.
He added that several visas have been issued, but more information from colleagues in New York and Geneva is still awaited. “Once received, a decision will be made regarding the composition of the Iranian delegation and its participation.”
He went on to say that Iran will use the opportunities of the UN General Assembly and other international conferences to clarify its position and interact with other countries on regional and international development.
“During this trip, Iran plans to hold consultations with Europe and other countries given the current sensitive situation on the nuclear issue and the recovery of the previously resolved UN Security Council resolution,” he emphasized.
Regarding the snapback mechanism, he said Tehran cannot read the intentions, but Iran will undoubtedly not waive its position and legitimate rights under their illegal pressure. “The talks continue and we hope that the other side will conclude that the tension escalating will not benefit anyone.”
