Speaking at a ceremony on Wednesday when he announced Iran’s new nuclear achievements, Pezeshkian highlighted the peaceful nature of the country’s nuclear program.
The Iranian president, referring to the National Nuclear Technology Day, honored the memory of martial scientists, saying, “More than 23,000 of the best (people) of the country have been assassinated. Dedicated and knowledgeable people who are supposed to bring pride to our country.”
“They assassinated our scientists, so there is no one in this country who can pave the way for national progress.
Pezeschkian once again emphasized that the Islamic Republic is not trying to produce nuclear weapons. “We are not looking for an atomic bomb. We have officially announced that we are not looking for a nuclear bomb, which is setting a policy (for Iran) than the leaders of the Islamic Revolution.
“We can see 1,000 times that there is no atomic bomb, but we need nuclear science and nuclear energy.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, Pezeshkian referred to the threat of Iranian enemies, saying, “We are not looking for war, but we are strong enough to withstand the aggression against the knowledge and power that scientists have produced.
“We have declared ourselves as brothers in all Islamic countries. This is not a slogan, it is our belief, and there is no political intention. We consider all our neighbours to be brothers and we want to live with them in peace and brotherhood.”
Referring to the enemy’s activities that call Iran the source of local unrest, Pezeshkian said, “Are we destroying cities and terrified? Are we deploying bombers in the region? Are we armed and destroying local countries to sell resources and equipment?”
“We want peace and security and we embrace dialogue, but with dignity and pride, we will not compromise on our results and never allow them to hinder our thinking and innovation.”
“The greed of the enemy to think he can be at odds with us is a false idea. People in our country do not allow foreigners or invaders to do so,” he continued.
Iran was not a foreign colony because foreigners were unable and did not allow them to act this way, the Iranian president concluded.
