During a press conference Monday morning, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeli Baghaei said the time and location of the next round of indirect negotiations with the US has not yet been decided.
Iran said it is in talks with Oman, adding that a senior Iranian diplomat will be announced in conjunction with both Iran and the US, but nothing has been confirmed so far.
Regarding the issue of uranium enrichment, he emphasized that “enrichment is an inseparable part of Iran’s peaceful nuclear energy program and the nuclear industry and must be preserved.”
The US claims about zero enrichment indicate that the other side is not serious about the negotiation process, he continued.
Iran and the US held talks for the fifth round of Tehran’s nuclear program in Rome’s Italian capital on Friday. Just like in the previous round, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut and President Donald Trump’s regional mission, Steve Witkov, led the negotiation delegation in consultation.
“The fifth round of indirect consultations in Rome has concluded, in which Iran’s principled position was once again clearly and explicitly explained.
“The Omani Foreign Minister had proposed solutions and ideas to tackle the obstacles that were investigated during this round,” he added.
A spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry said, “In parallel with further investigation in the capital, the Foreign Minister of Oman has agreed to continue working on the details of the proposed ideas and provide them to both sides for further research.
