On Tuesday evening, President Pezeschkian received his qualification as new Swiss ambassador to the Islamic Republic in Oliviervan Gelter. During the ceremony, the Iranian president emphasized that Iran relies on stability, peace and security in the Western Asia region.
Emphasizing the importance of expanding interaction and strengthening joint cooperation, the president acknowledged Switzerland’s historical role as a communication channel between Tehran and Washington since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, urging Ambassador Vangelter to not seeking nuclear weapons, and instead to adhere to basic principles and policies.
Pezeschkian praised Switzerland’s constructive, neutral and balanced status among European countries, particularly in international conflicts. He expressed his appreciation for Switzerland’s cooperation, particularly in the pharmaceutical and food sectors. This lies amidst the challenges posed by unfair sanctions and misguided policies from the United States and certain European countries.
The Iranian president also condemned the Israeli regime’s actions against the oppressed people in Gaza, saying that such actions are the main cause of instability in the region and are neither humanitarian nor legal.
In response, Ambassador Bangerter expressed his joy in starting his mission in Iran and outlined his important objectives. It includes strengthening bilateral relations and strengthening Switzerland’s role as a reliable communication channel between Tehran and Washington.
The ambassador has ensured that he will not be spared from efforts to achieve these goals, while aiming to reflect the culture, history and hospitality of the Iranian people.
