The issue has been focused in recent weeks, with Iran stubbornly defending its right to enrich uranium as part of a civilian nuclear program, and the US wants to stop it.
The negotiations that began in April are the highest level of contact between the two since the United States left the Landmark nuclear agreement in 2015 during President Donald Trump’s first term.
Steve Witkoff, the US Middle Eastern envoy who leads Washington consultations, said the US “can’t even approve one percent” of Iran’s enrichment.
– “Completely false” –
On Monday, Iran ruled out halting uranium enrichment.
“This information is completely wrong with imagination,” said Esmaeir Bakaei, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, asked about the possibility of a press conference in Tehran.
Iran claims it has a right to a civilian nuclear program, including energy, and believes it will demand a red line that violates the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which it signs.
