At a ceremony to receive New Zealand’s ambassador Bethany Madden qualification on Tuesday, President Pezeshkian responded to the ambassador’s wish for successful indirect consultations on the nuclear issue and successful lifting anti-Iran sanctions, highlighting that damn policies should not be pursued.
The president said Iran would never consistently seek nuclear weapons, adding that the Islamic Republic has always worked together to demonstrate this stance.
He added: “The fact that the regime in this region is committed crimes with the support of a powerful state, and the efforts to portray others as threats to local security and peace in order to impose their own demands are completely unacceptable.
The New Zealand ambassador expressed her hope and determination to play an important and influential role in strengthening Iran’s relationship with her country during her tenure in the Islamic Republic.
She also mentioned her country’s concerns over the unfortunate situation in Gaza, saying that New Zealand has called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and expressed concern about preventing food and medical births in the besieged areas.
