The Islamic Republic of Iran has installed its first marine weather observatory on the Amir Kabir semi-submersible drilling rig in the Caspian Sea.
The new station was installed on the largest drilling platform in the Middle East, located 13.5 kilometers off the coast of Amirabad in the Caspian Sea.
The opening of this observatory will enable the measurement and recording of valuable meteorological and marine data, thereby strengthening marine meteorological services in the northern part of the country.
The observatory will monitor and record various meteorological parameters such as temperature and humidity, radiation, precipitation, horizontal visibility, wind direction, and wind speed.
It also measures ocean parameters such as water surface temperature, water salinity, and water level.
