Speaking on Wednesday at the Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds on the occasion of the 9th Iran International Fisheries Exhibition (IFEX), Prime Minister Rostanpur emphasized that maritime development in the fishing sector is of paramount importance for food security, in addition to creating employment opportunities.
He, who is also Deputy Minister of Agriculture, said the fishing industry has so far created direct employment opportunities for 285,000 job seekers.
In addition, the fishing industry has indirectly created employment opportunities for 1 million people in the country.
Rostampur highlighted that the country exported $451 million worth of aquatic animals abroad from March 21 to October 22, 2025, showing an increase compared to the same period last year.
