Australia has extended an unbeaten run to five games at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the Tehran Times reported.
Boomers’ Jack McVay led the way with 17 points and three triples, Harry Wessels scored 16 points and William Hickey chipped with 14 points.
For Iran, Sina Vahedi scored the top score with 11 points, including two triples, while Mobin Sheiki had eight points, four rebounds and three assists. Star forward Mohammadomini was limited to just two points in nine shots as Boomer’s defense suffocated the usual offensive sparks.
For Australia, the result means a shot in the title of the third Fiba Asia Cup and an opportunity to keep the perfect record in the competition intact.
For Iran, their undefeated run will end one game of the finals, but their resilience and overachievement with improved roster remain the highlight of the 2025 campaign.
Boomer now turns his attention to Sunday’s final and faces China, the equally unbeaten 16-time champion. Iran will also meet New Zealand in a bronze medal match.
