In a call on Saturday, Iranian President Masuud Pezeshkian told Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, “Based on its principled policies, Iran has always supported any action that leads to strengthening peace and security.
“Through history, Iran has never sought war or anxiety and has always played an important and effective role in establishing peace and stability in the region,” Pezeschkian said.
“But we were talking and negotiating. We were attacked by the Zionist regime, contrary to all international standards and laws, and America worked fully with this administration to bomb our legal nuclear facilities,” he said.
The Iranian president also criticized the double standards adopted by several countries towards war, genocide and aggression in the Zionist regime.
“What’s happening to the oppressed and vulnerable people in Gaza today is incompatible with either international legal, moral or humanitarian standards, such as the murder of women and children and reductions to genocide and water, food and medicine,” he said.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian president described the relations between Iran and Armenia with the Islamic Republic of Armenia as historical, friendly and constructive, adding that “our policy emphasizes that in light of maintaining the territorial integrity of all countries, it is a constructive interaction with all neighboring countries and strengthening the interaction and relations between the two countries.”
Pashinyan also emphasized his country’s interest in expanding relations with the Islamic Republic in Iran, saying, “We are panicking for His Excellency’s visit to Armenia, allowing us to meet and discuss ways to improve cooperation and interaction.”
