TEHRAN – Iran will hold its first festival and exhibition on children and youth tourism in Tehran from September 29 to October 3, a senior official said on Wednesday.
The announcement came during a meeting at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, attended by representatives from the public and private sectors, Deputy Tourism Minister Anusilvan Moseni Bampi said. The event will be held at Mirado Tower in Tehran.
Seyyed Hossein Fatemi, director of the province’s domestic tourism development, said the exhibition coincides with this year’s UN tourism theme: “Tourism and sustainable transformation.” He said the programme needs to focus on themes and maximize impact at both national and state levels.
Zahra Nabizadeh, a member of the National Children’s Tourism Committee and the festival’s Secretary of Science, said the initiative is intended to highlight the role of children in maintaining their cultural heritage while creating new economic opportunities. “Children are trustees of the culture and heritage of the land,” she said, adding that children-focused tours, standardized facilities and links between education and the economy can strengthen the sector.

She said the exhibition features specialized booths, artistic and cultural performances, travel services for children, and traditional games and music.
Mohseni-Bandpey emphasized the importance of practical learning, saying that real-life experience is more permanent than theory. “We must accustom children and teenagers of Iran to the natural, historical and cultural capabilities of Iran, from the forests of Haikinar to the ancient civilizations of the country,” he said. He added that the role of government is to support and promote, while the private sector should lead creative programs throughout the year.
State and private sector officials participating in the session highlighted the need for cooperation to develop the field of children’s tourism, citing the potential to promote social well-being, cultural growth and job creation.
The event poster was announced at the end of the meeting.
