With the competition that has moved from the identity of the previous U-19 competition to the 2022 U-20 competition, 33 teams will compete from August 2nd to 10th at 11 spots available to participate in host tie in next year’s final.
Participating teams are divided into seven groups of four teams and one group of five groups (one group of five groups) and will compete in group stage format at eight intensive venues in Bhutan, China, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
The group’s winners will be three best runner-ups alongside the hosts, completing the cast of the 12th teams in the 12th edition of the AFC Women’s U-20 Asian Cup, which will be held from April 1 to 18, 2026.
In the qualifying round, two-time champion DPR Korea will return to defend the crown, but three other former champions, China, Japan and the Republic of Korea, will also compete to regain the coveted title.

Seeds are drawn from five pots, based on a point system derived from the final rankings of the final three editions, and used to separate group hosts from other participants using additional host pots.
