The National Security Advisor (NSA) to India’s Prime Minister Ajit Kumar Doval had a telephone conversation with Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Akbar Ahmadian on Sunday discussing strengthening bilateral relations in the fields of trade and economy.
Iran plays a major and constructive role in the region, with increased cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the trade and economic sectors, Kumar Doval pointed out.
During the call, India expressed unclear support for Iran’s Islamic Republic, noting that strengthening cooperation in the fields of politics, security and economics, including the development of Chabahar Port and the International North-North Transport Corridor (INSC), has attracted the attention of the Indian government.
India believes that deepening Iran-India relations lies in the interests of two countries and regional security.
Iran’s top security officials stressed on his part that Iran and India are more likely to have the ability and potential to strengthen bilateral cooperation in political and economic fields, as two large countries with ancient civilizations.
The development of important projects, particularly the Chabahar port, should be implemented in the shortest possible time, Ahmadian emphasized.
