Pezeshkian spoke at a meeting with Turkmenistan Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, who visited in Tehran on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the two sides explored ways to expand bilateral relations, particularly in the energy sector.
President Pezeshkian pointed out that Iran wants to import natural gas from Turkmenistan, but also has the ability to export and exchange gas with neighboring countries.
He also highlighted the need to build gas pipelines between two countries that can support multiple purposes, such as domestic use, exports, and gas swaps.
In addition to strengthening energy cooperation with the Republic of Turkmenistan, Iran is also aiming to improve relations with Turkmenistan in the region, including transportation, trade, investment and cultural exchanges, he added.
Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister in Tehran for the 18th Joint Economic Cooperation Committee said Turkmenistan saw long-term opportunities for economic cooperation with Iran and is committed to strengthening trade routes and border markets.
Meredov said the main objectives for Iran are to be to build and operate a gas pipeline in Iran for domestic consumption, expanding border trade and expanding border markets, expanding border markets, economic and trade cooperation, co-investment and cooperation to maintain and improve living conditions in the Caspian Sea.
