Noor Ali Mohammadi, managing director of the Chemical Industry Research Group run by the Center for Education and Cultural Studies (ACECR), known as Jahad-e-Daneshgahi, announced that the group’s researchers have designed and manufactured the electrochemical supercapacher domestically.
This achievement has led Iran to become the fifth country in the world after Canada, South Korea, China and the United States, achieving advanced technology to manufacture this product.
Supercapacitors are electrochemical energy storage devices that can be used to accumulate and supply charges through reversible adsorption and desorption of ions at the interface between the electrode material and the electrolyte. A supercapacitor is also known as a supercapitor or electrochemical capacitor.
“There is a positive outlook for the domestic consumer market for this technology given the country’s development plans in the field of electric vehicles and advanced equipment manufacturing,” Mohammadi said.
He added that ACECR is ready to begin mass production of electrochemical supercapacitors in the country after gathering support from private sector investors and governments.
The director added that around 100 experts are working with the institute, and that more than 20 other research projects are expected to be in operation by the end of the year.
