Tehran – Iran is taking part in the 26th Baghdad International Book Fair in Iraq, which opened on September 10th.
The Iranian book and literature house, the leading Iranian publishing industry, exhibits 1,000 Arabic titles, the IRNA reported.
To commemorate the 1,500th anniversary of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the special section is dedicated to 100 titles on the life and teachings of the Prophet.
Another special display highlights Iran’s achievements in printing and publishing the Quran. The Pavilion also features 300 titles on Islamic Law and Seminary Science, 70 works on ethics, and 20 publications on the Resistance Movement and the late general Qassem Soleimani.
Additionally, Shiraz-based calligrapher Majid Rasgarh has accompanied an Iranian delegation, showing modern Iranian calligraphy for Iraqi visitors. There are also exhibits of 20 calligraphy paintings featuring the Qur’an attributes of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Mehdi Mohseni, vice-chairman of Iranian books and literary culture, gave a speech in Arabic on September 11th, “In the development of Iran-Iraqi cooperation in the development of interaction and cooperation between Iran and Iraqi states.” He also discussed the legacy of the famous Iranian calligraphers of Ibn Mukra and Ibn Bauwab, who lived and worked in Baghdad during the fourth and fifth centuries.
On the same day, Moseny met with Iraqi Deputy Minister of Culture and the Iraqi Publishing Director at the Iranian Pavilion. During the meeting, Iraqi officials emphasized the importance of strengthening Arabic resources on Iranian studies, saying, “While Iraqis are deeply interested in Iranian history, there are few Arabic sources on the subject available in Iraq.”
On the third day of the fair, Moseni also met with the head of public relations for the great mosque in Kfa. The mosque is known for its extensive cultural activities and unique manuscript library. Mosque officials expressed their interest in working with Iranian books and literary houses to introduce works of Iranian literature, religion and culture to Iraqi audiences.
The 26th edition of the Baghdad International Book Fair will be held at Baghdad International Fairgrounds until September 21st.
