TEHRAN – The Iranian embassy in Islamabad has strongly condemned what is called a “co-diseased and inhumane attack,” claiming the lives of eight Pakistani citizens in Iran’s southeastern Iran and in Balsestan province.
Deeply saddened by the loss of life, the embassy said on Sunday that terrorism poses a common threat to the entire region. It denounced the “dangerous elements” supported by international terrorism for trying to destabilise peace and security.
The statement further emphasized the urgent need for all countries to oppose terrorism and extremism.
Eight Pakistani nationals were reportedly killed on Saturday when an unidentified gunman targeted a workshop in the village of Sistan and Balshestan. According to the IRNA, a spokesman for Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said they have been in contact with Iranian officials and are waiting for further details about the tragic incident.
Also, in response to the terrorist law, Esmail Baghhai, a spokesman for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, described the attack as “criminal acts that go against all Islamic principles and legal and humanitarian norms.” He expressed his sincere admiration for the victims’ families, the government and the people of Pakistanis during this difficult time.
Baghaei has assured that the relevant security and judicial authorities of Iran’s Islamic Republic are fully committed to identifying the person responsible for this heinous crime. He emphasized that justice is mercilessly pursued against the perpetrators and agitators of such acts of violence.
The spokesman also condemns all forms of terrorism, calling it an “osinister phenomenon,” which must be addressed through national and regional cooperation. He repeated Iran’s preparations to strengthen cooperation and coordination with neighbouring countries in order to effectively combat terrorism.
Iran and Pakistan have been working on cross-border terrorism for several years. Intelligence shows that the group is mostly supported by Israel.
