TEHRAN – On Monday, a funeral procession for famous Iranian miniatureist and painter Master Mahmoud Falsh Island was held in Isfahan, attracting huge crowds from all over Iran.
The ceremony took place at the prestigious Art Institute in Isfahan. This is a place that is closely linked to the artist’s early career and his lifelong passion for art.
Notable cultural figures, government officials and ordinary citizens gathered to honor men whose pioneering work in Persian miniatures and traditional Islamic art left an indelible mark on Iran’s cultural landscape, the report added.
Speaking at the ceremony, Seyed Abbas Salech, Islamic leader of the Minister of Culture, said, “Faschian was an artist who reflected Iranian and Islamic wisdom in his work. His art was not just for the choice groups, but for the people, for the people, and for the people,
He emphasized that Master Falsian’s talent and genius were apparent from an early age, and “early Jalal al-Din Homaei called him the “sage” and the “lasting legacy of the great Iranian artist.”
He also described another feature of Farsian art as “sacred and spiritual,” saying, “he had a deep connection to the realm of truth and the divine. Therefore, his motifs and works coincide with human instincts and resonate deeply in the mind.”
“Mahmoud Falshuan was more than just an artist. He was a cultural ambassador and his work was a visionary man who transcended boundaries and resonated with the minds of the world,” he added.
He expressed his sadness to Master Falsian and the family of the Iranian state, saying, “He is not only a great artist, but a noble man, whose noble character surpasses his work, leaving behind a lasting legacy of Iranian culture and art.”
He praised his ability to capture the essence of Iranian landscapes and emotions on his vibrant canvas, highlighting the unique blend of Farsians of traditional Persian aesthetics with modern influences. The Minister also presented a national homage to the artists, pledging to establish a permanent exhibition space specialising in his work at the Iranian National Museum.
Former Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also spoke at the ceremony, highlighting Master Mahmoud Falsian’s noble personality and artistry.
Recalling some of his memories from numerous meetings with Master Falcien in New York and Tehran, he added:
He also emphasized a special respect for Master Falsian’s Aar Al Beit and his role in introducing Iranian culture and art to the world.
“The presence of Master Falciens in the art world was an inspiration for everyone. This bright gem farewell, Iran, Iran and in fact, the art world has lost one of their most precious individuals,” he added.
Mehdi Jamelinejad, governor of Isfahan, said, “The creative younger generation must stand with the enormous masters of great art, so that experience and knowledge are properly transferred.
He highlighted the importance of the role of creative young people along with the master, adding that “this connection has not yet been well established and needs to be strengthened.”
Other speakers, including renowned art critics and collectors, shared personal anecdotes and praised Falcien’s dedication to his skills. They highlighted his role in shaping modern Iranian art, the guidance of young artists, and his tireless efforts to promote Iranian art internationally.
Following the farewell ceremony and funeral procession of the Master Fersch faction, the message of sad dol was read aloud from President Masuud Pezeschkian and the custodians of Astan Quds Razabi, previously issued upon the death of the Master.
The body of Mahmoud Falshuan, who arrived in Isfahan on Monday morning, was placed to rest in the grave gardens of Saib Tabrij, a place for the Persian poets to rest.
The famous artist, who died on August 8th at the age of 96 due to pneumonia at a hospital in New Jersey, USA, had requested that he be buried in the grave of Saibtabryji.
