Tehran – Iranian Innovation Technician (IHIT) is set up in Jakarta, Indonesia, and will be held at the 37th Indonesian Hospital Expo, which will be held from September 25th to 28th.
The Centre aims to promote Iranian companies’ entry into the Indonesian market and build a basis for broad cooperation in the health and technology sector, ISNA reported.
The hospital exposition offers industry participants the opportunity to display innovation and networks for potentially profitable investments, along with medicine, along with medical, pharmaceutical, clinical and laboratory equipment.
Supported by the development institutions of international cooperation in science and technology, Iranian knowledge-based companies have established pavilions at the exhibition. They plan to attend inter-business meetings and negotiate with hospital representatives, as well as Indonesian health authorities.
The event serves as an incredible opportunity for Iranian knowledge-based companies and manufacturers to showcase their capabilities and products in the strategic Southeast Asian market, paving the way for expanding international cooperation with industry leaders and health professionals around the world.
Medical self-sufficiency, medical devices are a priority
The issue of medical and medical device production and self-sufficiency in these regions is one of the government’s priorities, Health Minister Mohammad Reza Zafarkandi said.
Medicine and medical devices are two important areas related to people’s health, he said, “We are trying to reach self-sufficiency for the supply of medicine and medical devices,” the IRNA reported.
On January 13, the head of the Iranian coalition of medical device manufacturers and exporters said that about $20 million worth of medical devices are exported to more than 60 countries a year.
The IRNA says it says more than 70% of medical devices and more than 100% of regular hospital beds are made in the country.
He added that more than 95% of certain ICUs and CCU beds and more than 85% of operating room medical devices, such as anesthesia devices and other equipment, are manufactured using cutting-edge technology in the country.
Yaqoubzadeh continues, saying that the country’s need for medical devices is between $3 billion and $4 billion a year, of which $1 billion is imported.
Approximately 600 medical device companies operate domestically and produce about 99% of the drugs supplied to the domestic market.
Domestic medical device manufacturers produce and supply over 10,000 types of medical devices to domestic and foreign markets. Today, various experimental equipment are manufactured at much lower prices than the same foreign product.
Indonesian surgeons were welcomed with high quality and accurately, and in 2024, four Iranian-made remote robotic surgical systems were installed in Indonesian hospitals.
The first two Iranian remote garden systems were installed in hospitals in Bandung and Yogyakarta. The third and fourth reported that it was reported at Wahidinsudirohood General Hospital in Makassar and Hajiadam Malik General Hospital in Medan.
Important benefits of the system include affordable prices (one fifth of the price of foreign models), low maintenance, and cost-effective consumables.
